So glad to have family...

What a week and weekend! So much going on..4-H BBQ, family and two church services! WOW! I am always reminded why I love summer so much. Family comes up to visit. Having lost both of my parents has really made me appreciate them even more. Friends can come and go, but family is forever. God is so good and I am not sure where I would be without Him or family.

Our annual fundraiser went really well. Seems like Andrew and I loose about two days worth of sleep getting it ready, but in the end it is very worth it for the kids! We are so thankful for our regular donors and consumers.
Our church service was especially wonderful as our Las Vegas friends came up for the day. It was so nice to fellowship with them. We were moved by their special music. Such sweet friends.

Tomorrow I am hoping we can all go bowling and just start the summer off together. We haven't been bowling in months! This will be such a treat. We have been eating too much food, peeling, cutting and freezing peaches from Marisue's in laws trees and just laughing and having a great time. This all makes me so thankful for all that God has given us.

"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Have a blessed weekend!

Some of our improvements

I still have yet to finish decorating Allison's room, but here is what we have done so far....

Tearing out the hallway closet to make a new one.
This used to be the bathroom long, long ago.

Allison just wanted to crawl under there with the boys

This was such a chore, getting some of the house level

Almost finished, I will post more pics this week with the new flooring and decor in Alli's room...

Gotta love pocket doors!

My light and cheery laundry room has a finished ceiling!
Allison's room is now lavender :)

Have a great day!

A scripture to really think about....

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:17-18

How many times have we woken up to a mess and started in on the family for not helping around the house. Or, just been annoyed with traffic or the long line at the bank. Habakkuk really reminds me of how I need to find joy in the Lord on those days especially. He will never leave us or forsake us, so why do I worry and get upset when things just don't go the way that I  think they should? We are so blessed as a nation to be able to have the freedoms to worship Christ. We need to use those freedoms. Our Pastor was speaking yesterday on how we need to take those small opportunities to speak into someones life when we get them. For instance, someone might be telling you about how they are afraid of an upcoming surgery or that a family member is sick and they are not sure why. Perfect moments to share Christ or just to ask to pray with them, or both! I do this on a regular basis. We have this in us to share. Our Pastor also said that sometimes we might just pass the ball and say, "I will have my Pastor pray for you, or let me contact my prayer chain," when we are perfectly capable to pray for that person right then and there. I believe that God puts us in those situations to do so, and let's not miss out on them. There used to be a time when I was afraid to offer up a prayer or to share Christ with someone, but it has gotten easier through the years and I believe that He has strengthened me to do so.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Just my two cents for today. Hope everyone has a great week!

Love to each and every one of you!

A couple of cute things I just made

Here is a purse I just made for my friend Julie, and an apron for Caitlin's birthday...

Mind the stain on the iron board. I need to sew a new one!

We love because he first loved us.

What a wonderful day to be a mom....

I woke up this morning missing my mom terribly. Thankfully, the first thing I hear this morning is "Happy Mother's Day mom!" from my oldest son, Tyler. I am so thankful for that. I know that I do not need a holiday for them to appreciate me, but it sure feels nice. I got Allison dressed and ready and we all headed to church for a really nice service. Right before worship, I was visiting with a dear friend and we both were talking about how this day is nice and yet very hard at the same time. Isn't it funny how you cannot wait to leave your parents to go out on your own and be more independent and then when you do and they are gone, you just can't believe it and miss them so much. I didn't have the best relationship with my mom, but she adopted me and gave me so much more than I could have imagined. She took me diligently to voice and piano lessons and sent me to a Christian high school to better my relationship with Christ. So, as I walked up the steps today to lead worship for our church service, I closed my eyes and saw mom in heaven clapping and smiling looking down on me as I began to sing. There aren't words to express my happiness at that moment. To know that she was proud of me and because of her drive to keep me in music lessons, I am a better Christian today because of it. I so happy to sing for my King. So, even though my mom wasn't the best cook and she had alittle different fashion and style, I still miss her and loved her so much. I still can smell her perfume on some of the jewelry I took home after she passed away.

Today, my oldest son took the day off of work and we all went into Flagstaff for lunch at Red Lobster. It was yummy! Then we went downtown to the Old Towne Creperie for some yummy crepes! I then did some window shopping while Allison and Andrew ran around Hertiage Square! That girl never stops! Then we headed to the movies for our final stop before home and now I sit here in bed, thankful and happy to have the wonderful family that I have. Even though mom is gone to be with Jesus, I know that one day, I will be with her again, and I look forward to that day when it comes.....

Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her..

Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends!

We're fixing up the joint!

Since we added on the house a couple of years ago, we have had some "cosmetic" things to fix! Andrew asked me a couple of weeks ago, would I rather go away for about three days for a "mini get away", or would I rather fix up the house. Well, after some serious consideration, I made the adult decision that we have to get this house finished. So, Andrew began two weeks ago....the long process of tearing out drywall and fixing flooring and such. Some of the ceilings weren't completely drywalled since the addition, so those are now done! The hallway closet has a working door and no hole in the floor!! Allison now has drywall on all of the areas of her room and it is painted the prettiest shade of purple. I have decided to accent her room with black and white and I have some really fun ideas for that. I bought some black with white polka dot fabric to cover her shelving that holds her clothes. Should be cute! I am also going to make a large silhouette of her and put it in a shadow box for her wall. Anyone got any ideas, share em!

Andrew finished the laundry room and now it is a nice fresh shade of yellow. Nice and bright. We have the baby chicks in there right now, so when they are bigger this month, I can move them out and have my folding table back! Now I have the table completely cleared of clutter and so I can fold clothes in there! YEAH!

Still doing a lot of "spring" cleaning. Thinking of having a yard sale next week to get rid of some of this clutter and make a little cash. :)We have the boys room to carpet and repaint. That will be a week long venture in itself. Not looking forward to that one! Lots of purging has to happen in that room. Why are boys like that? So smelly and they just cram all of their clothes away and they look like they have slept in their clothes all night? I am hoping that Allison will be neat and tidy but I know I am living in a dream world! We have the kitchen ceiling to finish, but we are thinking of removing the faucets from the top of the cabinets to raise them up a bit. That will help me out a bunch since my microwave is so close to my stove top that I burn myself on the microwave when making pancakes on my griddle!! Hopefully this can be done before too long, but right now I think my husband deserves a much needed break. :)

I will attach pics later when the rooms are completely done, still some organizing and decor to do, but hopefully I will have those done by Monday!

Have a great Thursday everyone!
