Daily Bible Verse

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."

Matthew 5:6

 

 

What a great thing to hunger for. I hunger for a lot of things in life. Success for my children, my love for my husband, but do we remember to hunger and thirst for righteousness? Sometimes it is easy to just go along our day and just put God to the side until the end. When I do that on those days, I feel empty. This scripture says that if we hunger and thirst for Him, we will be filled. How wonderful is that! Now if we can just live by this verse. As my oldest son turns 17 this month, I am reminded that we have just a short time here on this earth. How do you want to spend your short time here? I want to make an impact. I want to serve Him with all of my heart, my mind, my soul and my strength. I want my children to do the same. I just pray that they will and always will. We want our children to be filled with good food and ideas for their future, but don't forget this scripture. The most important thing to be filled with, Him.

Harrison's 8th grade Grad

I cannot believe that my second oldest is going to be a freshman in the fall. I know I say this like a broken record, but where did the time go?? I am so proud of him. He loves to care for people, he loves Jesus, his parents and he makes a great first impression on any adult he meets! We had a great time at dinner before the ceremony. We met, Uncle Joey, Uncle Scott, Uncle Steve, Aunt Cathy M and Aunt Cathy S at Macayo's for dinner before heading over to the Phoenix Convention Center for the AFHE Junior High Commencement. Most of the family was out of town on the annual girls trip, but we were so glad that some were able to make it! The ceremony was awesome! The kids that had performed for the ceremony were amazing!! Two played the piano, one the violin and one girl, from Flagstaff, had pre-recorded an ice skating performance that they showed on the big screen. Another girl did sign language to a Christian song. It was pretty cool! We are so very thankful for our three children. I am always thanking the good Lord for them daily...

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

I will pray

The weekend proved to be an interesting one for the family. I have seen so much in my life, but nothing quite like this before with someone so close. I am just praying for God's will to be done. I am not sure how to handle these emotions I am feeling. I just wished that they would see how much care we have and that we are not condemning them. They are on my mind constantly. I am crying constantly in prayer. I know that God is good and I know that he is bigger and stronger, but at times I feel my faith slip. Why? Maybe because the world says so. Maybe because I have seen other outcomes in this situation go horribly wrong and I can't help but feel like this one will go the same. Regardless of all of these emotions, I am praying for strength and the realization of the situation. Sometimes I get entirely too emotional, but this time it is extremely different. It is so not about us looking like we care, but that we do care so very much.The world is so corrupt and evil and it can get ahold of any of us. Until we can see some changes, I will diligently pray. I will seek the Lord and sing and praise Him. I will remember those that cannot care for themselves and hope that they are in His hands. All in all, He is the one we will answer to in the end. I pray that I can stand up tall and say that I did Him proud in my short days here on this earth and that He will say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

¹ Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. ² Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Just like Aunt Sarah

Well, there is just something about summertime. Gardening, green trees, family coming up to visit, hammocks and ice cream. Dairy Queen has opened and we have walked down there way too much this summer! Allison really loves walking down to get "cream". In fact, whenever we go on a walk and happen to pass by or get a glimpse of the DQ sign, she shouts, "CREAM!!". One night while walking home from our outing to DQ, Allison had still saved her cone, making it last and last...then we put her in the bathtub! What a smart thing! A hot bath and an ice cream cone...something only Aunt Sarah can appreciate.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

DIY Silhouettes

Really cute craft idea! Pretty easy too. You will need a digital camera, colored cardstock, fine tipped scissors and double sided tape.

1.Take a profile photo of your subject. I have found that bows and cute hairstyles really add to the end project.
2.Print out the picture.
3.Then, cut the picture, making sure you cut all of the fine details.
4.Place the picture cut out on a piece of colored cardstock, black is traditional. Trace with a pencil. Then cut out your colored paper picture. I mounted mine on some 12 X12 scrapbook paper and framed it in a box frame.


                                            Voila! Enjoy...

Broccoli Cole Slaw

This is so good. Trust me, try it, it is yummy!

 
2 bags (3 ounce) Ramen noodle soup in oriental
3/4 stick butter
1/4 cup slivered almonds
2 bags (12 ounce) bags broccoli cole slaw (in the bagged salad section)
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
chopped green onions, for garnish

Dressing:
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup brown or white sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 ramen noodle oriental seasoning packet

Crush the noodles while melting the butter in a large skillet over low/medium heat. Add the crushed noodles and slivered almonds to the skillet and saute, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, whisk together all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Place the slaw mix into a big bowl and toss with the noodles, almonds and sunflower seeds. Pour the dressing over the  salad and toss to coat. Garnish with green onions.
